COURSE DESCRIPTION:
With every new code, construction and enforcement professionals want to know what are the big and most important changes. This course reviews these changes to inform participants of recent energy‐efficiency related code changes in Florida.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The goal of this course is to ensure participants are familiar with current and future changes to the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, to improve the likelihood that buildings are constructed in accordance with the building code.
SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Explain the format of the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, 5th Edition (2014) for Residential applications
- Demonstrate ability to navigate the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, 5th Edition (2014) for Residential applications
- Define the three different compliance paths (prescriptive, trade-off and performance) to meet the energy code
- List new and updated mandatory requirements
METHOD OF PRESENTATION:
This course will be presented as an instructor led lecture using electronic media including slides.
Time will also permit discussion periods on specific topics.
PRIMARY AUDIENCE:
This course is designed for contractors or builders, design professionals and code officials. Construction trades may also be recommended to attend. Trades include, but are not limited to, framers, HVAC contractors, electricians, plumbers, insulators and air sealers. It is recommended to have participants who are involved in planning and purchase and/or participants who will be installing on‐site.
