COURSE:  Commercial Compliance Paths for Energy Conservation 5th Edition (2014)

CEUs:  1   (1 Hour of Instruction)

Commercial construction is very diverse from small retail shops and convenience stores to massive high rise condos and stadiums.  For the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, 5th Edition (2014), there are three paths for energy code compliance in varying degrees of complexity and difficulty from which contractors may choose.  This course provides an overview of these paths as they might apply to different types of commercial buildings.

This course is designed for enforcement professionals, contractors or builders and construction trades. Trades include, but are not limited to, framers, HVAC contractors, electricians, plumbers, insulators and air sealers. It is recommended to have participants who are involved in planning and purchase and/or participants who will be installing on‐site. It is also recommended that code officials attend the training to provide information on how new code requirements will be verified.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

•      Demonstrate ability to navigate the 2014 Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation 5th Edition for Commercial Applications
•      Delineate how building envelope, mechanical and lighting provisions are grouped to form compliance paths for commercial applications
•      Define paths found in the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation and ASHRAE 90.1

This course will be presented as lecture using electronic media including PowerPoint slides with instructor led test scenarios and demonstrations.  The training scenarios will be the same as the actual IDL – Infiltration & Duct Leakage certification test.
